Which substance is used in refrigerators now a days instead of CFC?

Chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) were once widely employed in air conditioners and refrigerators, but it was later discovered that they were damaging to the ozone layer. CFCs were gradually phased out in response, and as a result, they are now largely prohibited by the Montreal Protocol.

Hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), such as R-134a and R-410A, are currently the most widely used refrigerants in refrigerators and air conditioners. However, it has also been established that HFCs play a role in climate change, and the Kigali Amendment to the Montreal Protocol has begun to phase down their use. HFCs are being replaced by more modern refrigerants like hydrofluoroolefins (HFOs) and natural refrigerants like carbon dioxide and ammonia.
